Bethlehem has a handful of hot dog joints that- because they're hot dogs- are awesome. Pete's on Southside Bethlehem, Yocco's at various locations and Potts' in North Bethlehem (and other various locations). All three of these restaurants bask their dogs in their individual sauces, chili's and toppings.
Although I have had all three, my favorite has always been Potts'. I haven't been back in a few years and can't wait to climb the stairs to the mom-and-pop hot dog shop.
Potts' has a secret recipe for their house chili/sauce for their dogs. This, the freshly grilled dog and melt-in-your-mouth bun make them stand out over the other two doggie shops. Staying true to the decades-old decor, Potts' is take-out, cash only restaurant.
According to almost every hot-dog-loving Lehigh Vallyian, the Valley's doggie question is who makes the best dog? Yocco's, Pete's or Potts'?
Potts' is open Monday-Friday 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Check out Yelp's page on Potts' and see why they're reviewed at 4 out of 5 stars!
Can't wait to order 'the works'!
I love food. I love going out to eat and discussing my overall experiencing. I've decided to follow up that love with a guide for fellow Lehigh Valleyians to the best places to pig out in the Valley. Aside from the food, this blog is focused on the people of the restaurant that I chow down at. Everyone has a story, including those working at your favorite restaurants. With taking a step beyond food critiques of the Valley, I've decided to appreciate the face behind the food and find that story.
